Integration guide

Set up Stripe in RouteIQ

You will be redirected to Stripe to create or connect your payment account, provide identity and bank details, and enable card payments.

Stripe handles the sensitive setup details. You will complete these steps on Stripe's secure website. Do not send identity documents, bank details, or card data to RouteIQ support.

Before you start

Have the legal name, address, tax information, representative identity details, payout bank account, and any business documentation Stripe requires for your country.

Availability and requirements vary by country and business type. Review Stripe's verification requirements before you begin.

1. Start Stripe Connect from RouteIQ

  1. Sign in to RouteIQ and open Settings > Integrations.
  2. Find Stripe and turn it on.
  3. Select Connect with Stripe when the button appears.
  4. Continue only if the page opens on a secure Stripe website and shows the expected RouteIQ connection.
No API key is required

Do not paste a Stripe secret key into RouteIQ. Complete the setup on Stripe. When you return, the payment account will be connected automatically.

2. Complete Stripe's onboarding

  1. Enter the email and phone number requested by Stripe, or sign in if Stripe recognizes your account.
  2. Provide the business, representative, ownership, and payout details requested for your account.
  3. Review the information carefully and submit it to Stripe.
  4. Return to RouteIQ after Stripe completes or pauses the onboarding flow.

Stripe may request more information later. Its Connect onboarding documentation explains the types of requirements a connected account can encounter.

3. Verify the setup

  1. Return to Settings > Integrations.
  2. Select Sync on the Stripe card.
  3. Confirm the card remains active. The account is ready only after Stripe reports that your details were submitted and both charges and payouts are enabled.
  4. Run a low-value test payment using the correct test or live environment for your RouteIQ site, then confirm its status in both RouteIQ and Stripe.

Troubleshooting

The onboarding link expired

Return to RouteIQ and start the connection again. Stripe account links are intentionally single-use and expire.

Stripe says more information is required

Open the Stripe onboarding or account dashboard and complete every currently due requirement. Then return to RouteIQ and select Sync.

The integration is connected but payments are disabled

Check whether Stripe has enabled both card payments and payouts for the connected account. Pending verification, unsupported business types, or missing bank details can keep a capability inactive.

Disconnect Stripe

Before disconnecting, finish or refund outstanding payments and understand how future refunds, disputes, and payouts will be handled. Then use Disconnect on the Stripe integration card.

Disconnecting in RouteIQ does not necessarily close the Stripe account. Use Stripe's account controls for account-level changes.
